There’s one question I get asked before almost every session, “Where should we take photos?”
One of the best things about living in Central Texas is how many beautiful locations we have nearby. From open fields and lake views to charming downtown streets and hidden nature spots, there’s truly something for every style and personality.
Whether you’re planning senior photos, family pictures, engagement sessions, or branding images, here are some of my favorite photography locations around Belton, Temple, Georgetown, Round Rock, Leander, Salado, and surrounding areas.
Natural scenery is always beautiful, but architecture can create just as much impact in a gallery. Sunsets, wildflowers, and open fields will probably always be popular for photos, but some of the most unique sessions happen in places people don’t always think about, downtown streets, historic buildings, textured walls, clean lines, and unexpected little corners that add personality and character to every session.
Belton & Temple Area
Chalk Ridge Falls Park – Belton
Perfect for nature lovers, this location offers trails, trees, bridges, and beautiful greenery throughout much of the year. It’s especially beautiful for seniors, couples, and adventurous family sessions.
Downtown Belton
Downtown Belton has a relaxed Texas charm with brick streets, historic buildings, and interesting textures that photograph beautifully. It works especially well for seniors, couples, and branding sessions looking for a more urban or timeless feel.
Temple Lake Park
If you love sunset sessions near the water, Temple Lake Park offers soft evening light, open views, and a peaceful atmosphere that works beautifully for families and couples.
Miller Springs Nature Center
One of the hidden gems in the area, Miller Springs is filled with trails, tall grass, trees, and scenic overlooks that create a natural, storytelling feel for sessions.
Salado Area
Downtown Salado
Salado is one of my favorite places to photograph because it offers a little bit of everything, charming buildings, stone walkways, greenery, creek areas, and timeless Texas character. It’s especially beautiful for seniors, engagements, and branding photography.
Pace Park
A quieter location with trees, water, and natural scenery that works well year-round, especially during golden hour.
Georgetown & Round Rock
Georgetown Square
Classic, clean, and full of charm, Georgetown Square is one of the most versatile locations in Central Texas. Between the historic architecture, neutral tones, alleyways, and local storefronts, it creates a timeless backdrop for almost any type of session.
Blue Hole Park – Georgetown
A beautiful natural water location surrounded by limestone and greenery. It’s especially popular during summer and early fall sessions.
Garey Park – Georgetown
Garey Park offers a more polished outdoor look with beautiful walking paths, open fields, stone details, and scenic views throughout the park.
Old Settlers Park – Round Rock
This location offers open space, trails, trees, and gorgeous evening light. It’s a great option for families and seniors looking for a natural outdoor setting close to town.
Downtown Round Rock
For clients wanting a mix of modern and historic architecture, Downtown Round Rock offers texture, storefronts, murals, and a fun urban feel that photographs beautifully.
Leander & Surrounding Areas
Brushy Creek Area
Brushy Creek is perfect for clients wanting a natural setting with trails, tall grass, trees, and soft evening light. It’s especially pretty during spring and early summer.
Southwest Williamson County Open Spaces
Some of the best hidden locations are often the quiet roads, open fields, and tucked-away spots around Leander and Liberty Hill that provide beautiful sunsets and wide-open Texas scenery.
Final Thoughts
The perfect location really depends on the style and feel you want for your session. Some clients love open fields and sunsets, while others are drawn to downtown streets, lakeside views, architecture, or a more modern setting.
